Question:
Practice: Read the description of the following business process. Draft a process model diagram, create and save the diagram using an appropriate name in Signavio:
When an order is received, it is first checked for completeness by the sales team and afterwards handed over to the employees in the warehouse. If the order is incomplete, the customer will be informed and an updated order will be requested. As soon as the updated order has been received, it will be checked again. If an updated order has not been received within 7 days, a notification will be sent to the customer and the process ends.
The sales team checks if the item is available. If the item is available, it will be taken from stock by the warehouse employees. Afterwards they check the customer’s status (gold or standard) in the system. If the status is gold, the item will be prepared for express delivery. Otherwise it will be prepared for standard delivery. Afterwards the sales team creates the invoice. Then, the employees in the warehouse send both the order and the invoice to the customer. This is how the process ends. If the item is not available, the customer will be informed and the process ends.
Individual Assignment: Read the description of the following two business processes. Draft process model diagrams, create and save the diagrams as “Diagram 2.1” and “Diagram 2.2” in “My documents” folder in Signavio. The collaboration process model must use appropriate pools to represent different actors, message flows, sequence flows, events, and gateways. There is no need to represent data objects in the diagram. You need to model activities for the actors in different pools (e.g., seller, carrier and customer).
Use “Print” feature to save the diagram in PDF
Add “Authors” information to the pages
Save the file using “lastname_firstname.pdf”and submit the PDF file to Week 7 workshop dropbox through Blackboard: (Due date: midnight of Saturday, 14th April 2018)
Retail company: Product shipping process (Diagram 1.1)
A seller has an arrangement with a carrier to ship products that the customer purchased online. The process starts when a seller has a product ready to be shipped to a customer, it organizes a shipment form and alerts the carrier to ship the product by sending the shipment form. Once the carrier receives the shipment form, it delivers the product to the customer and notifies the customer. The carrier also notifies the seller of the delivery at the same time.
After receiving the product, the customer assesses the product received and can either report any problems or confirm the faultlessness of the product to the seller within 14 days. If the product is damaged, the customer reports damage claim to the seller and the seller has a separate process to handle damage claim (details of the damage claim process are hiding in this process). If the product is OK, the customer sends a confirmation to seller. In the end, customers may choose to write comments on the product on the company’s web site.
Retail company: Click and collect process (Diagram 2.1)
The process starts when a customer requires a click and collect order. The customer sends a click and collect order to the retail company. When the company receives a click and collect order, its information system automatically sends an email to confirm an order and lets the customer know that she will be contacted when the order is ready to be collected. The same information system also sends packing order details to the warehouse to prepare the product.
The warehouse staff packs the product and courier it to the store where the customer wants to pick up. When the product arrives at the store and ready to be picked up, the customer receives a text message with a store location to collect the order. The customer then visits the store, proceeds to the staff at the check-out counter and shows the text message to the staff. The store staff views the text message, then goes to the store room to collect the product. If the product is not found, the store staff informs the customer and apologizes for the inconvenience.
If the product is found, the store staff gives it to the customer and informs the customer. Next, the store staff scans the barcode (i.e., order number) on the package and asks the customer to sign the receipt as a proof that she has already received the product. This is how the process ends.
