It is required for a manager of health and human service management to understand the different issues associated with the field while using effective ethical, legal and theoretical framework and analyze the issue to introduce adequate strategies to resolve it effectively (McPherson & Pincus, 2017). The following paper will discuss the importance of using ethical, legal and theoretical frameworks to analyze and understand an issue and identify a specific issue and effective process to mitigate it.
Multiple theoretical perspective to understand issue
In order to resolve an issue it is required to understand the contributing factors to implement effective strategies to address the factors and resolve the issue effectively. Theoretical perspectives are considered as the set of assumptions that helps to answer a question to derive result. Using a single theoretical framework limited the analysis of the issue to a specific idea, whereas multiple theoretical frame work helps to understand the issue from different perspectives thus, ensures appropriate analysis of the issue and facilitate the way of implementing strategies based on the ideas of different theories (Mirzoeff, 2014). Hence, it is important to use multiple theoretical perspectives to maximize the way of introducing a range of ideas to solve an issue.
Ethical and legal decision making processes
Ethical and legal decision making processes is a complex process that is used to analyze the actions taken for individual or for an organization. The standard of ethical decision making provides the guidelines in order to choose a decision or action that is favorable for individual while excluding the bad or harmful choices that are not acceptable. Hence considering the ethical standards during decision making is one of the most important criteria that should be maintained by individual in order to take reasonable actions according to a situation which is acceptable for all (Campbell, 2016).
Impact of one’s own value on action
Everyone has their own values and beliefs that develops based on their surroundings. It develops over time and reflects our background such as culture, friends, family and experiences. However, there are some problems in allowing the personal values of people to influence their action (Fullan, 2014). One of the major issue with personal values is that it influence people to ignore the information that are inconsistent with a particular situation and make decisions based on one’s preexisting beliefs, thus reduces the ability to work professionally (Marcus, MacDonald & Sulsky, 2015). Thus, it is important to reflect on one’s personal vales to understand oneself better and identify the significant incidents where personal perceptions cannot be applied to make decisions.
Health and human service issue
In case of health and human service management the manager faces different issues. Among them depression of the employees is one of the most significant issue that impact on both the productivity and service of the organization. The poor mental health of employees impact on their performance effectively and depression has been identified as the one of the major mental health issue of the employees that may be caused due to excessive work pressure, departure or death of relatives or other traumatic events and affect the performance of the employees (Nabipour et al., 2015). Hence, it has become one of the major issues in health and human service management and requires effective strategies to resolve the issue.
Reflection on own value
According to mu personal perceptions it is important to maintain both the physical and mental well-being to perform effectively in the workplace. With poor mental health such as depression, employees fail to fulfil their responsibilities which affects the productivity of the organization, thus, creates major issue regarding the contribution of the employees. According to my personal views in such cases it is important to understand the concern of the employees and take ethical decision which will be favorable for both the employees and the organization, thus it can be said that my personal views validated the issue of depression within employees (Marcus, MacDonald & Sulsky, 2015).
Theoretical frameworks
In order to resolve the issue of depression within employees, I would like to use multiple theoretical approaches specifically social justice theory, system theory, theory of change, critical theory and health belief model to analyze the situation as such theories are effective to inform about the contributing factors and could help to introduce effective strategies. Such theories would help to understand the human rights and equality, adequate system to manage the work load and distribution of work, effective planning, participation and evaluation, prediction of change in behavior due to poor health and critiquing the situation to induce change as a whole (Dinh et al., 2014).
Process for resolving issue
In order to resolve the issue I would like to utilize the democratic or participative leadership model as it allows the members of an organization to participate equally in the decision making process thus maximize the incidence of ethical decision that is acceptable for all (Mirzoeff, 2014). Additionally I will use effective communication to understand the concern and resolve the issue (Wuthishuwong, Traechtler & Bruns, 2015). Furthermore, situational leadership may be helpful to adjust with the condition and develop strategies to influence the target employees to contribute effectively (Dinh et al., 2014).
The above discussion has informed that, it is important for the manager of health and human service management to utilize multiple theoretical model and maintain ethical standards to analyze an issue and take appropriate decision and it is important to restrict unnecessary influence of personal views in decision making. Depression has been identified one of the major concern for the managers and it has been stated that with appropriate theoretical model like social justice theory, system theory, theory of change, critical theory and health belief model and effective leadership and communication it could be managed.
